Intimate & Adventurous Lake Tahoe Elopement | Emerald Bay Ceremony
Words can’t even express how much fun I had with Natalie & Lawrence during their incredible Lake Tahoe elopement! Early spring in Tahoe can be a little unpredictable, but we truly lucked out — a touch of snow still sparkled on the ground, the air carried a soft mountain chill, and the sunshine poured over the lake in the most perfect way. It was one of those days that just felt meant to be.
I met up with Natalie & Lawrence at their cozy Airbnb, where they spent the morning getting ready together — laughing, helping each other with the final details, and soaking in the excitement of what was to come. When it was time for Natalie to slip into the dress, they shared a sweet first look moment out on the front porch — a mix of happy tears, huge smiles, and pure love.
From there, we set off on an adventure through some of the most breathtaking parts of Lake Tahoe. We explored the stunning overlooks of Emerald Bay, with its deep blue waters and dramatic mountain backdrop, before wandering among the towering pines and lakeshore trails of Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park. Every stop offered a new bit of magic — laughter echoing through the forest, quiet moments shared by the water, and a sense of calm that only nature brings.
As the sun began to set, Lawrence’s best friend joined us to officiate their intimate ceremony back at Emerald Bay. The evening light turned everything golden, the waves lapped softly against the rocks, and their vows carried on the breeze. It was simple, heartfelt, and absolutely beautiful.
To top it all off, the newlyweds celebrated with a cozy dinner out — the perfect ending to a perfect day.
Natalie & Lawrence’s Lake Tahoe elopement was everything I love about what I do: intentional, joy-filled, and full of adventure. Even though I’m not a local photographer, my experience planning and capturing elopements in Lake Tahoe and beyond allows couples to hire an experienced elopement photographer who can guide them to the best locations, timing, and moments for their day — making it feel effortless and fully focused on their love story.
How to Plan Your Lake Tahoe Elopement
Planning a Lake Tahoe elopement can feel overwhelming at first, but it doesn’t have to be. With a little guidance on planning your elopement, you can focus on what matters most — your love story. Here are a few tips to make the most of your day:
- Choose the right season for your vibe. Early spring or late fall can give you snowy or golden backdrops, while summer is perfect for warm, clear skies. Keep in mind that some trails and parks may have seasonal restrictions.
- Pick locations that speak to you. Emerald Bay and Sugar Pine Point State Park are favorites for their breathtaking views, but Tahoe has countless hidden gems — beaches, waterfalls, and forest trails — perfect for intimate moments and epic photos. Check out this Lake Tahoe elopement locations guide for inspiration.
- Plan for timing and light. Sunrise and sunset provide the most magical light for photos. Consider starting your day a bit earlier to capture the soft morning glow or plan your ceremony during golden hour. These elopement day tips can help you feel calm and confident throughout your day.
- Bring layers. Tahoe weather can change quickly, especially near the water or higher elevations. Having extra layers, blankets, or even a cozy shawl can keep you comfortable and feeling calm throughout the day.
- Hire an elopement photographer that will help you plan. A photographer with experience in Lake Tahoe (or elopements anywhere!) can guide you on logistics, timing, and locations, helping your day feel effortless and fully focused on your love story. Working with someone experienced also gives you the freedom to enjoy your adventure-filled elopement without worrying about the details.
Lake Tahoe offers endless possibilities for intimate, adventurous elopements. With a little planning and a sense of adventure, your elopement day can be just as magical as Natalie & Lawrence’s!
