Glensheen Mansion to Lake Superior: A Sweet Photo Adventure

Once upon a summer’s day in the northern kingdom of Duluth, Minnesota, I had the joy of photographing someone very special — my beautiful niece, Drew.

This wasn’t a big occasion or a planned event. Just a fun little photo adventure, for no reason other than to capture the moment and spend time together. Sometimes those are the best kinds of shoots — relaxed, no expectations, just exploring and seeing what unfolds.

We started our afternoon at the enchanting Glensheen Mansion. The grounds alone are reason enough to visit — winding paths, lush gardens, and that classic historic charm that makes every corner feel like a story waiting to be told. It’s the kind of place that begs for a camera in hand, and Drew, with her effortless grace, made it all come to life.

After wandering through the gardens, we headed over to Leif Erikson Park, where the rocky shoreline meets the vast waters of Lake Superior. There’s something about that lake — powerful, calm, and ever-changing — that adds a little extra magic to every photo.

It was one of those perfect summer days, warm with a gentle breeze, and Drew absolutely glowed in the golden light. No big occasion, just a beautiful girl, a beautiful day, and a little time well spent.
