From Gold Mines to Red Rocks: A Jerome & Sedona Elopement Tale

Chantelle and Chris are the kind of couple who thrive where the trail ends and the wild begins. Bonded by their love for trail running and a deep connection to the outdoors, it only made sense that an adventure elopement would be part of their love story.

I first met these two about a year before their Sedona elopement, over pizza and easy conversation. They had flown in from Canada to scout ceremony locations, wandering through the red rocks with wide eyes and hopeful hearts. From the moment we met, I knew this day—whenever and wherever it happened—was going to be something special.

Life had other plans first. A few months after their visit, they decided to hold an intimate wedding close to home in Canada, making sure Chris’s dad could be a part of the celebration. But Sedona wasn’t forgotten. It called to them, as the desert often does. And so, they planned a second, soul-centered day among the red rocks—one that felt true to their wild spirits.

Their Sedona elopement unfolded in chapters. A couple of nights before, we ventured into the quiet dark for stargazing portraits under Sedona’s crystal-clear sky. It was cold, but oh, was it worth it—the stars showed up in full force.

Their official day began in Jerome, a quirky little mining town tucked into the hillside. We met at the Gold King Mine for a sweet first look, shared with the rusted charm of vintage trucks and desert relics. Their families had traveled all the way from Canada, and we wandered together through town, capturing laughter, hugs, and all the quiet in-between moments.

Next, we headed to The Clinkscale for a well-earned break and a few celebratory drinks. Then it was off to Sedona, where the wind met us on the trail to Secret Slickrock. The ceremony, led by Earth Elopements, was heartfelt and raw, set against a sky that couldn’t help but show off—sunlight breaking through the clouds at just the right moment. When asked if she was cold, Chantelle just smiled and said she was warm with love. And you could feel that warmth in every vow they shared.

Back at their cozy Airbnb, the day closed out the way it began—simple and sweet. Pizza from Picazzo’s, cake-cutting joy, and soft evening light filtering through the windows. It was a day full of love, laughter, a little wind, and just the right kind of magic.

And as if the universe had been paying attention all along, that night, seven planets aligned in the sky—a rare celestial moment, mirroring the harmony and beauty of the day. The stars weren’t the only ones celebrating.
