Apostle Islands Adventure | Paige + Ben’s Styled Elopement Session
As part of my quest to bring some styled shoots to life up north — where I often visit my family — I put out a little model call. That’s how I connected with Paige and Ben, two awesome humans who were down for an adventure.
I asked if they’d be up for a bit of a trek to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore near Bayfield, Wisconsin — a spot I’ve hiked before and one I’ve always thought would make an absolutely epic elopement location. Spoiler: it totally is.
Our original plan was to start the day with a kayaking tour, paddling into the incredible sea caves along the shoreline, and grabbing some shots out on the water. But, as adventure days often go, the weather had a different idea. Wind and rough waters shut down our kayaking plans, so we pivoted — explored a few cool spots nearby, grabbed lunch, and waited to see what the skies had in store.
By the time we wrapped up lunch, the weather had taken a turn for the better, and we headed out to the Lakeshore. What followed was nothing short of magic.
The stormy skies cleared, and we were greeted with the calmest, glassiest waters — a total contrast to the wild waves earlier that day. Then came that sunset. Golden light spilling across the lake, painting the cliffs and water in soft, glowing colors. It was the kind of evening you don’t plan — you just feel lucky to witness.
Paige and Ben were total troopers through the ups and downs of the day, and spending time with them made the experience even better. We laughed, explored, and created some seriously beautiful images together.
If you’re dreaming about a Wisconsin elopement spot that’s a little off the beaten path, full of natural beauty, and has the potential for epic sunsets and peaceful vibes — Apostle Islands National Lakeshore is 100% worth considering.
