A Sunrise Vow: Levi & Clarissa’s Enchanting Sedona Elopement
Before the world woke up, I found myself knocking on the door of an Airbnb in Sedona at 4:00 a.m. Inside, Levi and Clarissa were beginning one of the most unforgettable days of their lives—their elopement. The soft glow of early morning filled the cozy space as they got ready, their little daughter playing nearby, and their mothers lending loving support. The air buzzed with quiet excitement, the kind that only comes before a grand adventure.
Our destination? Doe Mountain, a breathtaking spot in Sedona where we would catch the sunrise for their ceremony. The hike itself isn’t long, but its steady incline can be a challenge for those unaccustomed to climbing. Their moms, surprised but determined, took it on like champs. As we ascended, the sky began to shift, and suddenly, hot air balloons rose over the cliffs in the distance, floating silently in the dawn. It was pure magic.
At the top, we reached the perfect spot just in time. The first golden rays of the sun spilled over the horizon, casting a warm glow over the red rocks as Levi and Clarissa exchanged vows. Clarissa’s mother officiated the ceremony with heartfelt words, while Levi’s mother sat with their daughter, watching the moment unfold. It was intimate, beautiful, and exactly what an elopement should be—focused on love, connection, and the beauty of nature.
After taking a few portraits with their family, we began our descent back down the trail. The day had only just begun, and more adventure awaited.
Off-Roading, Caves, and Changing Plans
Back at the Airbnb, Levi and Clarissa swapped outfits, ready for the next chapter of their day. Their moms and daughter set off for their own adventure in Sedona, while the three of us set out for something a little wilder.
First stop? Schnebly Hill, where we bounced our way up the rugged trail in a Jeep, climbing higher and higher until we reached the sweeping views of Merry-Go-Round Rock. Neither Levi nor Clarissa had ever been off-roading before, and the thrill of the ride added even more excitement to the day.
Next, we explored the Raven Caves, winding through the sandstone formations before heading down to the river, where the fall foliage created a vibrant, golden backdrop. We had originally planned a few more stops, but as the day stretched on, we realized that the best adventures are the ones where you listen to what feels right. Instead of pushing forward, we decided to slow down.
With that, we headed back to their Airbnb, where they settled in for a cozy dinner together—a quiet, perfect end to a day full of love, exploration, and breathtaking landscapes.
That’s the beauty of elopements. There’s no rigid schedule, no stress, just the freedom to embrace each moment as it comes. Levi and Clarissa’s day was everything an elopement should be—joyful, adventurous, and completely their own. And the best part? Later this year, I get to reunite with them for their vow renewal, surrounded by even more of the people they love.
I can’t wait.
