A Romantic Sedona Proposal at Mariposa Restaurant | Sedona Engagement & Proposal Photographer

When Kenton reached out to me about planning a surprise proposal for his girlfriend Natalie during their trip to Sedona, I could immediately tell how much thought and love he was putting into every detail. As a Sedona proposal photographer, I always get a little spark of excitement when someone lets me in on such a meaningful secret, it’s one of those moments that never gets old no matter how many times I photograph it.

Kenton and Natalie had plans to enjoy a beautiful evening out in Sedona, with dinner reservations at Mariposa Restaurant, which overlooks some of the most breathtaking red rock views in town. He wanted to pop the question before dinner, so we brainstormed together to find a spot that would feel private, natural, and convenient for the surprise. We decided on a grassy overlook area near Mariposa, quiet enough to feel intimate, yet close enough that they could walk right into their celebration afterward.

On the big day, I arrived early to scout the light and find the perfect hiding spot (photographer-style stealth mode activated!). Once Kenton and Natalie arrived, I tucked myself behind part of the building, camera ready, and waited for the signal we’d planned in advance.

As soon as Kenton got down on one knee, I could see the surprise and joy on Natalie’s face from across the lawn. She said yes, of course—and the moment was just as beautiful and emotional as you’d imagine. The sun dipped low over the red rocks, creating the dreamiest glow for the first portraits of them as a newly engaged couple.

After the proposal, we wandered around the area for some sweet engagement photos, full of laughter, hugs, and that undeniable “just engaged” energy. It was the perfect Sedona evening and such an honor to help capture this milestone for them.
